I have no idea how to counter the Gauss, I'm not much of a math expert. _______________________________________________________________________________

Use a ship with a high structural integrity. Either use battleships or anything stronger than a heavy fighter.

Cruisers can take about 2.5 shots before exploding, and battle ships can take about 5-6 shots.

However, you might need a large number of ships in order to minimize losses.

A large number of light laser fodder might make it harder to break the gauss cannons since cruisers do not have rapid fire against light lasers, and the only ship that has rapid fire against light lasers are bombers and destroyers, both which are expensive.

P.S. What does that have to do with math?

Just divide the structural integrity of a ship by 10 and subtract the attack power of the defense cannon. If that number comes out positive, then your ship will witstand the hit.
