Expeditions are good. Prove me wrong.
[edit] Expedition Statistics
Thinking it could be good to incorperate expedition statistics gathered by this group into this article.

Also the suggested fleet needs revising. Seems with the recent revisions to expeditions, new strategy suggests that taking mostly cargo ships and probes in value as close as possible to 500,000 and with cargo capacity as close to 2,000,000 is the way to go since the fleet you encounter almost always consists of the same type of ships as you bring, thus making Alien and Pirate losses very minimal but still allowing collection of large quantities of resources. 68.226.5.103 19:52, 8 July 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Likeing expeditions :D
Yeah, no doubt, for some of us, expeditions have been beneficial. I send out at least 2 a day. I almost always get something out of it. The more ships you send, the better the results. Revord __________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Prove you wrong? I lost most of my fleet to aliens, then when I rebuilt my new fleet almost four times the size, it got permanently lost. - Does that win ? :D _________________________________________________________________________________ i think that it depends on what kind of fleet you have an the luck of the draw. aliens always have +3 all research and pirates have -3 all of your research and apparently they have around the same number of ships and ships that are not too outside your level. if you send a fleet of only 15 small cargo ships, 5 espionage probes and only 5 light fighters and you run into a pirate fleet or alien fleet your pretty much screwed. although if you have maybe 20 large cargo ships, 50 battle cruisers and 20 cruisers no matter what fleet you run into your going to be pretty good at countering it since cruisers have rapid fire vs the fodder and the battlecruisers have rapidfire against many of the middle to higher level ships.
[edit] Recharge time
Does anyone know if there's some ideal amount of time to let an outer space area recharge before exploring it again? Is the outer space area ever "fully recharged," or do the rewards constantly get better with time?
- I don't think many people cares much about expeditions yet, so far I've never had any activity in the outer space when I went, so I guess it recharges pretty fast. You shouldn't have to worry about it, just send them chained :)
[edit] "The longer you wait, the more likely you are to find something."
"The longer you wait, the more likely you are to find something." Could someone specify on this? Aka, is it also the more likely you'll find pirates or aliens, or it's just "...the more likely you will find something -beneficial-"? Thanks :)
It means your more likely to get something other then messages telling you that your crew learned about the vast emptiness of space and getting nothing or like the guy below who's crew took a picture of a nova. you still may get bad things like pirates just you have a lower chance of getting absolutely nothing
[edit] 500.000 resources cap on ships
Could someone confirm that? I've seen peopoe report more from expeditions in the Ogame forum.
- Answering myself: Is it possible Deuterium spent on ships (building) isn't counted as resources?
[edit] I just had an exped that found something not on the list
'Your expedition took gorgeous pictures of a super nova. Nothing new could be obtained from the expedition, but at least there is good chance to win that "Best Picture Of The Universe" competition in next months issue of OGame magazine.' anyone able to help out with what that means?
- Yes, it means you got nothing.
[edit] Not enough capacity?
Our expedition ran into an old automatic shipyard. Some of the ships are still in the production phase and our technicians are currently trying to reactivate the yards energy generators.
The following ships are now part of the fleet: Light Fighter 11 Large Cargo 1
Entry from the machines officers logbook: We unfortunately do not have enough capacity to bring all the found ships back.

- It means that if you had sent more ships, you would have gotten more stuff. Aka, you found a price of for example 500k resources in ships, but since the fleet you sent is so small, you only were able to bring back 11LF and 1LC, if you had sent more, you could have brought home those 500k on ships. In other words, you were lucky, but you didn't use the chance since your fleet was too small.
[edit] aliens and pirates
ive read somewhere that whenever you meet aliens or pirates they only use ships that you have in your fleet... eg if you send large cargos only you can onlu fight large cargos... can someone please confirm this?
- This corresponds to all of my encounter so far, it also seems that pirates have half of your battle techs (weapon, shield and armor) levels while aliens have a bit higher (can't remember how much). -TheDwoo 22:29, 28 January 2008 (UTC)
not true. ive run into light fighters when all i had (on expedition and not on expedition) was small cargo ships. also i ran into cruisers when i hadn't built any yet myself
[edit] Expedition decreased
Did anybody else notice that after Jan 21,2008 people stopped getting anything good from expeditions? I have always found less than 10 esp probes but it says that I dont have enough capacity to being back more even though I sent 75 bs.
[edit] Cargo limit
I got 816 Metal from an Expedition that contained 2 Large Cargoes. The First Officer's log told me that this was as much as I could carry. Wha...? JalYt-Xil-Vimescarrot 18:14, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Dark Matter
Can anyone confirm this? Normally, online games don't allow you to obtain items which normally require payment. JalYt-Xil-Vimescarrot 19:10, 23 February 2008 (UTC)
- I have found it on numerous occasions, however only in small amounts. You need to find it many times before you get to the minimum amount that can be spent. I think it is a great way for non-payers to get a free try at commander and similar features, although it does take some time getting that much. -TheDwoo 01:03, 26 February 2008 (UTC)
- Ok, cool. Thanks. Something to look forward to. JalYt-Xil-Vimescarrot 17:22, 26 February 2008 (UTC)
[edit] # of Ships
I'm not sure if this was a glitch or an exception to the rule, but this page says that the pirates/aliens can't have more ships than you do. I (as a noob) sent 1 small cargo in the hopes of getting some res or an esp probe for free. I was attacked by pirates with 3 light fighters. I think it is because I didn't send enough ships for the rule to apply, but if so, someone might want to change it/do a more thorough study. I would, but I can't afford to waste ships right now. 69.66.120.213 04:04, 6 March 2008 (UTC)
[edit] "Replinishing" outerspace
If the Outer Space is visited too often, the chances of finding anything decrease. If the Outer Space is left alone for a little while it will "replenish."
I have a few questions about this. by outerspace do all the 16 slots counter as one or each a different outerspace. i.e. if i visit outerspace in 4:429:16 over and over again to the point where i get nothing can i just go to 4:430:16 and get lots of stuff again? another question is does the outerspace chance of finding stuff deplete according to just you or everyone else who visits it? i.e there is 5 other people going to 4:429:16 often so does them going there lower my chances as well if i visit 4:429:16 or is it individual and them going there does not effect my chances
- It's a bit hard to understand what you're trying to ask, but what I think you want to know is that each "Outer Space" slot (16) in each system is treated independently, and you dip into the same pool of prizes that all the other players do, so presumably it's more worthwhile to send expeditions out to 4:400:16 than it is to send them to 1:1:16, which is likely perpetually exhausted.--Verdant 22:16, 13 August 2008 (UTC)
