A Missile Silo is a building that launches and stores missiles. A Level 2 Missile Silo is required to be able to build Anti-ballistic Missiles and a Level 4 Missile Silo is needed to start building Interplanetary Missiles. For each level of the missile silo an extra 10 slots are made available. An anti-ballistic missile occupies 1 slot, while an interplanetary missile occupies 2. e.g. A Level 4 Missile Silo (which has 40 slots) could store 40 anti-ballistic missiles or 20 interplanetary missiles (or any mix of the two).
Both Interplanetary Missiles and Anti-ballistic Missiles can be deconstructed in the same fashion as buildings by clicking on the Missile Silo from the buildings section. This is instant and has no cost.
It follows that if a player has a silo full of Anti-Ballistic Missiles, you will need twice their Missile Silo Level + 1 to be able to build enough Interplanetary missiles to damage their defenses. This gets prohibitively expensive really fast. One way around this limitation is to send out the IPMs from multiple planets or players.
Since OGame 0.78a, IPMs can be used to destroy defenses on a moon and ABMs from the planet will defend the moon in those cases.
