The Deuterium Synthesizer is used to produce deuterium. Synthesizers are built in huge extracting platforms under the sea. As deuterium weighs more than double that of a single hydrogen atom, it can be found combined with oxygen in the deeper levels of the sea, due to its bigger molecular weight. Synthesizers extract and refine this water, providing usable Deuterium.

Deuterium is more plentiful in colder enviroments. Due to the lack of solar radiation, the farther a planet is from the sun, the greater the amount of deuterium that can be found at the bottom of its seas; making cold, outer planets a better target to place this kind of building. The formula for determining your deuterium output is below.


In-Game Description

  • Deuterium is a stable isotope of hydrogen with a natural abundance in the oceans of colonies of approximately one atom in 6500 of hydrogen (~154 PPM). Deuterium thus accounts for approximately 0.015% (on a weight basis, 0.030%) of all water. Deuterium is processed by special synthesizers which can separate the water from the Deuterium using specially designed centrifuges. The upgrade of the synthesizer allows for increasing the amount of Deuterium deposits processed. Deuterium is used when carrying out sensor phalanx scans, viewing galaxies, as fuel for ships, and performing specialized research upgrades.

old universes:  D = E \times (0.640  -0.001\times T_{max} )
or equivalently,  D = ( 10\times L\times {1.1}^L ) \times (1.28-0.002\times T_{max})
redesign universes:  D = A \times E \times ( 0.68 -0.002\times T_{avg} )
or equivalently,  D = A \times ( 10\times L\times {1.1}^L ) \times (1.36-0.004\times T_{avg})
(note that this implies that deuterium production is null at 340 degrees
and negative past this limit)
